My first kill with my Knight Muzzleloader

I recently decided to purchase a muzzle loader after 20 years of hunting with a rifle. I was looking for something reasonably priced but also known for its accuracy and reliability. After weeks of looking up different muzzle loaders online and talking with other hunters, I found my gun! I purchased a Knight extreme .45 caliber disc rifle. My reasoning for hunting with a .45 rather than the common .50 was the type of game I would be hunting for. My game of choice for this gun would be whitetails. The .45 caliber gives me the advantage of using this gun across the country even during the rifle season and muzzle loader season. I also have the advantage of flatter and longer distance shooting. My first kill was this Muzzle loading season 2007 in Central Pennsylvania. Towards the end of my first day several Does entered the field, I ranged them in at 190 yards. I would normally not recommend shooting at this range unless you are comfortable with your muzzle loader and have practiced many times at the range. I lined up my sites and took the shot, without a doubt the doe only ran 15 yards. This was my first successful kill, with a muzzle loader of any kind. One month later, I also visited the state of Indiana during fire arms season where I was able to be successful at 40 yards, this proves to me my decision on the this gun was the right choice for me. I would recommend trying the Knight .45 caliber, I also found that Hornady XTP 40 caliber 180 grain hollow point bullets, with a plastic harvester sabot accompanied behind two 50 grain pyrodex pellets.
